IV Kronstadt international ecological festival of arts: 1 – 30 June 2011

KronFest is cross-disciplinary project with the purpose of forming enlightened ecological consciousness and ecological youth culture under conditions of immediate contact with creative and scientific community representatives.
Artists of fine and performance arts from Russia, countries of Baltic region (such as Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Poland) and European countries are invited to participate in the festival.

Kronfest 2011: International eco-design contest

Final date of acceptance of applications for participation is January 31, 2011

Eco-design suggests abidance of ecological characteristics in the process of projecting and producing of different products. Recycling of products which ceased to exist or waste into new quality can also be an object for eco-design.
A huge exhibition is planned during the “Kronfest” the goal of which is to research opportunities of art-technical transformation of used materials or waste into new interesting objects of practical and ornamental usage by means of eco-design.

Project Tasks:
- creative task: encouraging of project thinking and creation in the midst of potential contestants and exhibition guests;
- ecological task: rising awareness to the problem of cost-effective use of resources and utilization.

Designers, artists, masters of  decorative and applied arts, craftsmen and all who can not only give an idea but also realize his or her project by demonstrating the ready exhibition object are invited to take part in the festival. In some cases the projects of eco-design can be created right in Krohstadt, at the discretion of judges. Conditions of residence and authors’ works are stipulated additionally.

2. Work (utility object)
3. Photofixation (the photo of the object in case it can’t be demonstrated at the exhibition for any reason)

Preparation stages and holding of the exhibition:
1. Filing of application and object photos – up to January 31, 2011
2. Operation of the judges – February – March 2011.
3. Preparation to the exhibition (print of the catalogue etc)
4. Delivery of works in Kronstadt (personally or by mail) – May 2011.
5. Exhibition in Kronstadt History Museum from 1 to 30 of June 2011. Chosen contestants are invited and paid for residence in Kronstadt (for 3 days).
6. Award ceremony for finalists (the first decade of June, the date is being specified).

Prizes: cash prize and prizes from fest organizers and funders.
More information will be released later.

A catalogue will have been published by the exhibition time. Each contestant will get free copy.

Bids for participation in exhibition are received by e-mail:kronfest@list.ru and must include:
1) a photo/sketch of an object in 1-2 pictures (of jpg format, up to 500kb)
2) object description (the title, assignment, size, checklist of materials) + brief author resume with contact information (address, telephone number, e-mail) – all in one page A4 (doc.)
In letter theme you should give your first and last name, hometown and the title of the object/project (for example –Ivan Petrov, Moscow, art-object “Butterfly”)

Bids applied with violation of aforementioned requirements will not be accounted for. List of members of professional judge committee will be published later.

The names of the participants of the festival will be published before the end of March on the site. Personal notifications by e-mail will be only winners.
